Steering and suspension problems aren’t always dramatic. Sometimes it’s a clunk over a bump. Sometimes the steering feels loose or the vehicle wanders. Other times, the first sign is uneven tire wear or a vehicle that simply doesn’t drive the way it used to.
We’ll inspect the system to determine where the movement, noise or wear is actually coming from.
Steering & Suspension Diagnosis
A clunk doesn't automatically mean you need struts. Loose steering doesn't automatically mean you need a steering rack.
Steering and suspension systems use multiple components working together, and wear in one area can sometimes feel like a problem somewhere else.
Depending on the vehicle and concern, we'll inspect:

Worn steering or suspension components can affect alignment angles, tire wear, steering response, and vehicle stability. We look at the system as a whole instead of treating every worn component as an isolated problem.

Your Tires Can Tell Us Something
Uneven tire wear isn't always a tire problem.
Cupping, feathering, excessive inside or outside wear, or one tire wearing significantly faster than the others can point toward alignment issues, worn suspension components, or steering problems.
If you're replacing tires because of abnormal wear, it makes sense to find out why the old tires wore that way before putting a new set through the same thing.

Ball Joints, Control Arms & Bushings
Ball joints, control arms and bushings help locate the wheels and allow the suspension to move while maintaining proper steering geometry.
Wear in these components can cause clunks, loose steering, uneven tire wear, alignment problems or changes in the way the vehicle handles.
We inspect the related components and replace what’s worn or damaged before performing an alignment when necessary.
Shocks, Struts & Springs
Shocks and struts do more than affect ride comfort. They help control suspension movement and keep the tires in contact with the road.
Excessive bouncing, poor ride control, leaking struts or shocks, unusual tire wear and changes in handling can indicate worn suspension components.
We service shocks, struts, springs and related mounting components based on the vehicle and the condition we find.
Tie Rods, Steering Racks & Linkage
Loose or worn steering components can cause wandering, play in the steering wheel, clunks, uneven tire wear or difficulty maintaining alignment.
We inspect and repair tie rods, steering linkage, steering racks and related components when wear or damage is affecting steering response or vehicle stability.
When steering repairs affect alignment, we can align the vehicle in-house after the repair.
Power Steering Systems
Steering assist problems can make the wheel unusually heavy, inconsistent or difficult to control.
We diagnose hydraulic and electric power steering systems, including pumps, hoses, steering gears, steering racks, electronic components and related faults depending on the vehicle.
The goal is to identify why the steering assist has changed before recommending repairs.
Wheel Bearings & Hubs
A worn wheel bearing or hub can create humming, growling, looseness or vibration that may initially feel like a tire or suspension problem.
Because wheel bearings also affect wheel movement and can interact with ABS wheel-speed sensing on many vehicles, we inspect the complete assembly when symptoms point in that direction.
We replace worn wheel bearing and hub assemblies when needed.
Sway Bars, Links & Suspension Hardware
Sway bar links, bushings, mounts and related suspension hardware can create clunks and rattles over bumps or contribute to changes in vehicle handling.
These components work as part of the overall suspension system, so we inspect them alongside the surrounding components instead of assuming every suspension noise requires major repairs.
