PERFORMANCE & UPGRADES

Performance Upgrades & Aftermarket Installation in Maize, KS

BUILT FOR MORE. INSTALLED RIGHT.

Your vehicle doesn't have to stay exactly the way it left the factory.

Maybe you're looking for more horsepower, better handling, stronger brakes, or a suspension setup that changes the way your vehicle looks and drives. Whatever your goal, the right modifications can make a good vehicle even better.

At Gearhead Autoworks in Maize, Kansas, we help drivers throughout Wichita and the surrounding communities select and install performance upgrades, aftermarket components, and vehicle enhancements that actually make sense.

From European performance cars to domestic muscle, trucks, and SUVs, we bring the same approach to modifications that we bring to automotive repair: Honesty, Transparency, and Professionalism.

Because anybody can bolt on a part. Making sure it's the right part, installed correctly, and working with the rest of the vehicle? That's what matters.

PERFORMANCE IS MORE THAN HORSEPOWER.

More power is fun. We're certainly not going to argue with that.

But a great-performing vehicle is about more than what happens when you put your foot down.

Suspension, braking, steering, tires, drivetrain components, and electronic systems all play a role in how a vehicle performs. Changing one component can affect several others, and not every aftermarket upgrade delivers the results people expect.

At Gearhead Autoworks, we take the time to understand what you're looking to accomplish before recommending parts or modifications.

Whether you're building something for weekend enjoyment or simply want to improve your daily driver, we'll help you understand your options and make informed decisions.

Let's Talk About Your Build

ENGINE PERFORMANCE & POWER UPGRADES

Looking for a little more out of your engine?

There are plenty of performance products on the market, but choosing the right combination is considerably more important than choosing the biggest advertised horsepower number.

Depending on your vehicle and application, we can help with a variety of performance upgrades.

PERFORMANCE INTAKE SYSTEMS

Upgraded intake systems can improve airflow characteristics, intake sound, and engine response on supported applications. We help select systems that fit properly and work with your vehicle's existing engine management.

INTERCOOLERS & CHARGE AIR COMPONENTS

On turbocharged vehicles, charge air temperatures and airflow can become important considerations when increasing performance.

Upgraded intercoolers, piping, and related components may help support performance goals when properly matched to the vehicle.

ECU & TRANSMISSION TUNING

Software upgrades can make a significant difference in how a compatible vehicle responds, delivers power, and shifts.

We offer supported performance software through our authorized dealer relationships, including APR, with application-specific requirements and availability.

Not every vehicle supports every tuning option. We'll help determine what's available and appropriate for yours.

SUSPENSION UPGRADES & HANDLING IMPROVEMENTS

MORE CONTROL. BETTER STANCE. THE RIGHT SETUP.

Sometimes the biggest improvement you can make has absolutely nothing to do with the engine.

The way a vehicle rides, corners, and responds to the road can completely change the driving experience.

LET'S TALK PERFORMANCE

LOWERING SPRINGS & COILOVERS

Looking for a lower stance, improved handling characteristics, or adjustable suspension options?

We can help evaluate lowering springs, coilover systems, and supporting suspension components for compatible vehicles.

The goal is to achieve the results you're after without overlooking ride quality, suspension travel, or alignment geometry.

TRUCK LIFT & LEVELING KITS

Whether you're looking to eliminate factory rake, improve your truck's stance, or accommodate an upgraded wheel and tire package, proper installation matters.

We work with supported lift and leveling systems and can help determine the supporting components needed for proper operation.

PERFORMANCE SHOCKS, STRUTS & CONTROL ARMS

Upgraded dampers, sway bars, control arms, and other suspension components can improve handling and vehicle response when selected for the intended application.

And when suspension geometry changes, proper alignment becomes especially important.

That's where our professional wheel alignment services come into play.

PERFORMANCE BRAKE UPGRADES

GOING FASTER IS FUN. STOPPING MATTERS TOO.

Better braking performance starts with selecting the right components for the vehicle and how it's driven.

From performance-oriented brake pads and upgraded rotors to supported caliper and braking system improvements, we can help evaluate options that match your goals.

Bigger doesn't automatically mean better.

Wheel clearance, tire grip, brake balance, heat management, and component compatibility all matter when selecting performance braking components.

Whether you're looking to improve your daily driver's braking characteristics or upgrade a performance vehicle, we'll help you understand your options.

AFTERMARKET WHEELS, TIRES & FITMENT

The right wheel and tire package can transform both the appearance and driving characteristics of a vehicle.

But there's more to proper fitment than finding something with the correct bolt pattern.

Wheel offset, width, tire dimensions, load requirements, suspension clearance, and overall vehicle geometry all need consideration.

At Gearhead, we offer professional tire installation, Road Force balancing, and wheel alignment to help ensure your upgraded setup performs the way it should.

Because nobody wants to spend good money on new wheels and tires just to deal with rubbing, vibration, or premature tire wear afterward.

EUROPEAN PERFORMANCE & APR UPGRADES

EUROPEAN ENGINEERING. REAL PERFORMANCE POTENTIAL.

Volkswagen, Audi, BMW, and other European platforms offer some incredible opportunities for performance improvements.

Gearhead Autoworks is an authorized APR and AMS Performance dealer, providing access to supported performance products and upgrades for compatible vehicles.

Whether you're looking for an ECU or TCU software upgrade, improved intake airflow, supporting hardware, or other performance enhancements, we can help evaluate the available options.

And unlike a business focused exclusively on selling modifications, we're also a full-service automotive repair facility.

That matters when a modified vehicle needs diagnostics, maintenance, or mechanical repairs.

Because increasing performance on a vehicle with an existing mechanical problem usually doesn't make the problem disappear.

DOMESTIC PERFORMANCE, TRUCKS & SUVs

PERFORMANCE DOESN'T REQUIRE A EUROPEAN BADGE.

Mustangs, Camaros, Corvettes, Hemi-powered vehicles, trucks, and SUVs all have their place in the performance world.

Whether you're looking for suspension improvements, braking upgrades, compatible bolt-on components, or a more capable truck, we're happy to discuss your goals.

Not every project falls within our capabilities, and we're not going to pretend otherwise.

We'll evaluate what you're looking to accomplish, what components are available, and whether we're the right shop for the job.

If we can do it correctly, we'll talk through the options.

If we can't, we'll tell you.

ALREADY MODIFIED? WE GET IT.

Not every vehicle comes through our doors in factory condition.

Some customers are planning the next stage of a build. Others have purchased a vehicle with modifications already installed. And occasionally, somebody brings us a vehicle with aftermarket wiring, unfamiliar components, and absolutely no documentation about what the previous owner did.

We've seen it.

Modified vehicles can introduce additional challenges, especially when factory service information no longer matches what's physically installed.

Our diagnostic approach focuses on understanding the vehicle, identifying the actual concern, and determining the appropriate next steps.

We're not going to automatically blame an aftermarket component just because it's there.

We want to find what's actually wrong.

WHY CHOOSE GEARHEAD AUTOWORKS FOR PERFORMANCE UPGRADES?

WE LOOK AT THE ENTIRE VEHICLE.

Performance upgrades don't operate independently. Engine management, drivetrain components, braking systems, suspension geometry, and vehicle electronics all have to work together.

We consider the complete application instead of focusing on a single advertised performance number.

WE BELIEVE IN DOING IT RIGHT.

Fitment matters. Installation matters. Supporting modifications matter.

We'd rather have the right conversation before ordering components than discover avoidable problems halfway through an installation.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Does Gearhead install aftermarket performance parts?

Yes. We install a variety of supported aftermarket components, including performance intake systems, suspension upgrades, braking improvements, wheels and tires, and other application-specific upgrades. All projects are evaluated for compatibility and shop capabilities.

Can I bring my own performance parts for installation?

No. Gearhead Autoworks sources the components used in our installations to help ensure product compatibility, installation quality, and support for our work.

Do I need an alignment after installing a lift kit or lowering springs?

Many suspension modifications affect wheel alignment geometry. An alignment is generally recommended after installing components that change ride height or suspension positioning.

Can performance modifications affect my factory warranty?

They can. Warranty implications depend on the modification, warranty terms, and whether a modification causes or contributes to a particular failure. We'll discuss relevant considerations before proceeding.

Do you work on vehicles that are already modified?

Yes. We work on modified vehicles, although existing modifications can affect diagnostic procedures, parts compatibility, labor requirements, and the scope of additional upgrades.

Can you help me decide which upgrades are right for my vehicle?

Absolutely. Tell us what you drive, what you're trying to accomplish, and what your priorities are. We'll help evaluate the available options and determine whether the project is a good fit for our shop.
