CLASSIC CAR REPAIR & RESTOMODS. In Maize, KS — Serving Wichita

Old-school character. Modern-day drivability. We keep the good stuff about classic vehicles and work on the things that make them a headache to own.

Mechanical repairs, electrical modernization, EFI conversions, suspension, brakes, A/C, and the kind of projects that require more than opening a parts catalog.

OLD CARS. NEW POSSIBILITIES.

The Car Has History. The Problems Don't Need To.

There's nothing quite like a classic. The styling, the sound, the personality. The way it gets attention without even trying.

Unfortunately, some of them also come with 50-year-old wiring, temperamental fuel systems, questionable brakes, and an A/C system that last worked when cassette tapes were cutting-edge.

At Gearhead Autoworks, we work on the mechanical and electrical side of classic cars and trucks. Whether you're trying to keep an original vehicle dependable or planning a more involved restomod, our focus is making it function the way it should.

Because owning a classic should involve more driving and a whole lot less wondering whether you're making it home.

MORE THAN A COLLECTION OF PARTS

Buying the Parts Is Easy. Making Everything Work Together? That's the Job.

A restomod isn't just a classic car with some modern parts bolted on.

EFI needs the right fuel system. Electronic controls need proper wiring. New accessories need adequate power distribution. Suspension changes affect steering, handling, and alignment.

And when those systems don't play nicely together, that's usually when the real fun begins.

We look at the vehicle as a complete system, not a stack of unrelated upgrades. Whether it's a classic Chevrolet, Ford, Mopar, or something a little less ordinary, the goal is the same: make the pieces work together and build something worth driving.

01 Understand the Vehicle
02 Plan the Upgrades
03 Integrate the Systems

We Love a Good Project. We Also Know Our Lane.

Not every classic needs a complete transformation, and not every project is the right fit for our shop. We'd rather be upfront about that.

What We're Here For.

Mechanical restoration and repair, electrical troubleshooting and modernization, EFI conversions, steering and suspension upgrades, brake systems, modern A/C, digital instrumentation, and carefully selected restomod projects.

What We Don't Do.

Our specialty is the mechanical, electrical, and modernization side of classic vehicles. We focus on making these machines run, drive, and function the way they should. Projects centered primarily around cosmetic restoration fall outside our scope.

Larger projects are evaluated individually based on vehicle condition, scope, parts availability, and scheduling. Gearhead Autoworks sources the parts for the work we perform; we do not install customer-supplied components.
GOOD QUESTIONS

Classic Car & Restomod FAQs

Does Gearhead Autoworks work on classic cars?

Yes. We provide classic car mechanical repair, electrical diagnostics, maintenance, and modernization in Maize, KS, serving the Wichita area. Projects are evaluated based on condition, required work, and shop availability.

Can you build or upgrade a restomod?

We take on select restomod projects involving mechanical and electrical modernization, EFI, brakes, suspension, climate control, digital gauges, and system integration. We don't provide complete frame-off restoration or bodywork.

Can you convert my classic car to electronic fuel injection?

EFI conversions are among the modernization projects we handle. The proper setup depends on the engine, fuel delivery, ignition, wiring, and overall goals for the vehicle. We evaluate those factors before recommending a system.

Do you install Vintage Air, digital gauges, and modern wiring?

Yes. Modern climate control, instrumentation, wiring, and electrical accessories are common parts of the classic vehicle modernization work we perform. Compatibility and project scope are reviewed individually.

Can I bring my own aftermarket parts?

No. Gearhead Autoworks supplies the parts and components for the work we perform. This allows us to evaluate fitment, quality, compatibility, and the complete installation before taking on a project.
